Swan Lake Suite & The Emperor’s New Clothes

Two timeless stories performed by en Avant School and Feng Ye Dance Academy
Ticket sales ended for this event.

The youth summer intensive students of en Avant School in East Palo Alto are joined by young performers from Feng Ye Dance Academy, San Jose, for the second annual production of “Folk Dances”— classic folk tales shared through dance and music.  They will perform the story of the Emperor who wanted a new set of clothes and how almost everyone around him unwittingly played into the hands of a crafty tailor!  There’s an important moral to be shared in this Hans Christian Andersen tale. You will also be treated to the adult intensive performers from en Avant School and Feng Ye Dance Academy in excerpts from Swan Lake.  The immortal tale of impossible love will be told with a twist from the East and the West.  Join them on stage next year and be part of the Sleeping Beauty Suite!

Creative Team

Nathan Cottam directs this double-bill with the help of assistant director, Traci Finch.  Their long-time creative partner, Feng Ye, brings her talented students and Chinese charm to the production through her choreography and a duet with Ms. Finch.  Swan Lake costumes by JoAnn Cottam and Janice Rymer with lots of help from Carol Stanek as Rothbart.  Music for The Emperor’s New Clothes is from Mozart’s catalog, and Swan Lake is a Tchaikovsky masterpiece.  Digital Design by Alexis Bartlett, your Black Swan for the afternoon!  en Avant School is the academy of Mannakin Theater & Dance.
