Dance for Pleasure Activism
Instructor: Johnny Huy Nguyen
Single-week registration is still available for this class.
“How do we make social justice the most pleasurable human experience? How can we awaken within ourselves desires that make it impossible to settle for anything less than a fulfilling life?” – adrienne maree brown, author of Pleasure Activism
Pleasure is a radical act.
Come ground yourself in pleasure while learning joyful, gentle, and holistic dance movements from across multiple traditions including street, contemporary, and martial arts.
In this six-week class, students will be encouraged to align the body with breath, gravity, and other sources of energy while exploring movements that encourage pleasure and harmony.
By the end of this class students will have an increased awareness of what types of dance movements feel good to them and how to experience and express joy and pleasure with their own body.
Open to all levels. No previous dance experience is needed.
“Pleasure activism” is a term quoined by the author adrienne maree brown in her book by the same title.
