Stravinsky's Suite Italienne reworks Baroque dance forms with crisp edges and sly humor, music that struts as much as it sings. Ravel's kaleidoscopic La Valse features an elegant Viennese waltz that spins off its axis and teeters toward spectacular collapse. Mendelssohn's D-Minor Piano Trio teems with sweeping lyricism and stormy soulfulness, a dynamic conclusion to a program that epitomizes the best of live performance.
