Presidio Theatre Names Adam Maggio Executive Director

Performing Arts Industry Veteran Uniquely Positioned to Take Organization Through Its Next Phase of Growth and Evolution

(San Francisco, CA, August 27, 2026) - Presidio Theatre announces the appointment of Adam Maggio as its new Executive Director. Maggio joins the Theatre as it begins its 2026-2027 performance season and he will lead its next phase of growth.  Maggio begins his new position October 1, 2026. The Theatre’s 2026-2027 season opens with Parsons Dance Company on Saturday, September 12 and runs until May 2027.

It is a plus that he is a lifelong member of the San Francisco arts scene and will handily help steer us into a bright future as a performing arts center that brings Bay Area audiences together with a variety of local, national, and international artists and companies.”

The staff and board are full of talented, committed individuals, and I am thrilled to join them as we work to make the Presidio Theatre’s next chapter its brightest one yet.”

Following a nationwide search conducted in partnership with Arts Consulting Group, Maggio will join the Presidio Theatre after spending five years as the first Managing Director of San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Company.  His work there spanned creative producing, fundraising, financial management, and organizational strategy, with a particular focus on building the infrastructure needed to support artists and new work. During his tenure, Maggio produced five world premieres, one West Coast premiere, and four new works festivals, while supporting the development of more than 40 projects. To do this, he helped significantly increase earned and contributed revenue and secured multi-year commitments from individual donors, government agencies, and private foundations.

A native San Franciscan and an alumnus of the San Francisco Arts Education Project (SFArtsED) and Ruth Asawa San Francisco School of the Arts, Maggio spent nearly a decade working as an actor, director, and producer in New York and regionally around the country, including Off-Broadway and at Berkeley Rep, the Adrienne Arsht Center, and Connecticut Rep. Prior to moving back to San Francisco, he served as an Associate Producer at the Obie Award-winning company En Garde Arts. Maggio is deeply committed to the wellbeing of the arts ecosystem in the Bay Area. He serves on the SF Arts Alliance, working alongside local arts leaders to advocate for the sector, and on the Board of Directors of Alumni and Friends of Ruth Asawa School of the Arts. He is  co-chair of the SFArtsED Alumni Council. He holds a BFA from the University of Miami and an MFA in Theatre Management and Producing from Columbia University.
