As a vital component of the Band of the Golden West, The Commanders Jazz Ensemble harnesses world-class musical excellence to honor our nation and those who have served, inspires patriotism and resilience in our Airmen, Guardians, and citizens, and connects the Air Force with communities and partners across the country.
Led by TSgt Michael Mannella and under the artistic direction of SrA John Merlitz and A1C Spencer Banister, this premier 16-member powerhouse is comprised of elite, full-time professional Airmen-musicians. Touring the western United States, the ensemble delivers high-energy concerts and engaging educational clinics.
