Being There (1979), starring Peter Sellers and Shirley MacLaine, is both a cultural touchstone and a masterclass in subtle storytelling. Being There, will be followed by a live conversation with David Shamroy Hamburger, Assistant Director of the film, and Rev. Victoria Austin, Dharma Teacher at San Francisco Zen Center. Together, they will explore the film’s creation, its quiet improvisations, Zen themes, and why its ideas remain deeply relevant today.
